Why? Because today it’s my daddy’s 62nd birthday! I might have mentioned it before, but I can’t say it enough: I have the best dad ever. He’s super smart and funny, always understanding and supportive, and he’s taught me a lot of things about life. Some of the most important ones:
1. Never hit first.
Wait until you get hit, and then beat that motherfucker up.
2. Never slam the door behind you.
Because you’ll never know when you might need some people.
3. Always keep your head up.
You’re far better than the people who try to beat you down.
4. Always work hard, and you’ll get to do everything you want.
Show your skills and you can go anywhere.
5. Never stop learning.
Because knowledge is power.
And that’s just a few of the many, many words of wisdom he’s spoken. I think I could fill a million pages by telling you what an amazing man my father is! Of course, there have been times that I didn’t listen to him, didn’t take him seriously, I guess you’re supposed to do that during puberty. But now I (finally) know better; daddy’s always right.
So this is a small ode to the one man that I can always rely on, no matter what. Happy birthday dad! I wish you’ll have at least another 25 more birthdays to go!
